Conversation starts

Eloria Mirvren: Just... listen... whoever you are, he's controlling you, isn't he? You're under curse, but there's a way to fend him off... your mind can be your own again!

› You claim you can free me? →
› Gabrius will free me, once I deliver you to him. →

Eloria Mirvren: Not directly, no... I can try to alleviate his connection to you, certainly, but to sever it...? However, there is a way... old magic left buried here... really old... really powerful...

› I'm listening. →
› I rather think Gabrius will free me, once I deliver you to him. →

Eloria Mirvren: The first magi of Imberthale, Rhiona Elmm, who birthed this place, became the Silvermirror Witch... and Lazar Vesteris... their quarrels left behind an amulet...

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: One that will shield the wearer against all forms of possession or mind control. Lazar needed it to defeat the first witch, or so the story goes. The magical gem central to the amulet remains left here on the witch's throne.

› What about the amulet itself? →
› Wait, you're not talking about this amulet I found, are you...?[1] →

Eloria Mirvren: The amulet went with Lazar to his grave, I believe. Arren and I were in fact trying to locate it, before... well, before all this happened.

› Why, what's your interest in it? →
› The grave, where would that be? →
› If I were to combine the amulet and its gem... →

Eloria Mirvren: Purely archeological. Uncovering magical artifacts of times past used to be a bit of a speciality of mine. Both mine and Gaberion's, actually.

› You mean Gabrius? →
› Lazar's grave, where would that be? →
› Say again, what was this magical amulet that may shield me? →
› If I were to combine the amulet and its gem... →

Eloria Mirvren: If that's what he chooses to call himself now. Gaberion Theraliss is the man I once knew. The most powerful and respected mage in the Vhosphoran Circle of Nine.

› Dying to hear that story. →
› Lazar's grave, where would that be? →
› Say again, what was this magical amulet that may shield me? →
› If I were to combine the amulet and its gem... →

Eloria Mirvren: Another time, maybe. It's quite long, sad and... there are more pressing matters at hand.

› Lazar's grave, where would that be? →
› Say again, what was this magical amulet that may shield me? →
› If I were to combine the amulet and its gem... →

Eloria Mirvren: Buried in this swamp, of that I am certain. Based on the legends, my guess would be somewhere near the pond that's known as the Lovers' Rest.

*Pond of Lover's Rest has been marked to your minimap.*

› What a quaint name... →
› You said you were looking for the amulet, what's your interest in it? →
› Say again, what was this magical amulet that may shield me? →
› If I were to combine the amulet and its gem... →

Eloria Mirvren: There's nothing quaint about it, trust me. It's supposedly where the mage Lazar was forced to drown his lover, and where he later drowned himself.

› You said you were looking for the amulet, what's your interest in it? →
› Say again, what was this magical amulet that may shield me? →
› So, if I were to combine the amulet and its gem... →

Eloria Mirvren: According to the legends, it came to being out of the quarrels of the first magi of Imberthale, Lazar Vesteris and Rhiona Elmm. The latter of the two birthed this place and became the first Silvermirror Witch.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Lazar fell under her possession and the amulet was ultimately what freed him, allowing him to defeat the Witch, or so the story goes.

› Continue[2] →
› Continue[3] →

Eloria Mirvren: The magical gem central to the amulet remains left here on the witch's throne, while the amulet itself followed Lazar to his grave. Arren and I were in fact trying to locate it, before... well, before all this happened. But now you have it...

› Why, what was your interest in it? →
› Uniting the amulet with its gem, sounds like it's worth a shot. →

Eloria Mirvren: Purely archeological; uncovering magical artifacts of times past used to be a bit of a speciality of mine - both mine and Gaberion's, actually.

› You speak of Gabrius? →

Eloria Mirvren: If that's what he chooses to call himself now. Gaberion Theraliss is the man I once knew, once when he was the most powerful and respected mage in the Vhosphoran Circle of Nine.

› Dying to hear that story. →
› Uniting the amulet with its gem, sounds like it's worth a shot. →

Eloria Mirvren: No doubt, but another time, maybe. The story's quite long and sad, and... well, we have more pressing matters at hand.

› Uniting the amulet with its gem, sounds like it's worth a shot. →

Eloria Mirvren: I certainly believe so - your only shot in fact, if you wish to recover your freedom now.

› Continue (Reckoning of the Silvermirror Witch: advances to phase 5) (end)

Eloria Mirvren: You'd be free from his control, I am almost certain of it. The gem you need is right here, on the throne. And the amulet...

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Well, it might still be possible for you to look for it. I can try to ward off Gaberion's influence as much as I can, to buy us time.

› You said the amulet went to the grave with this Lazar, where do I look for that?[4] →
› Unite the amulet and the gem - I'm on it.[5] (Reckoning of the Silvermirror Witch: advances to phase 5) (end)
› Actually, I think I may have already found it...[6] →

Eloria Mirvren: Buried in this swamp, of that I am certain. Based on the legends, my guess would be somewhere near the pond that's known as the Lovers' Rest.

*Pond of Lover's Rest has been marked to your minimap.*

› What a quaint name... →
› Unite the amulet and the gem - I'm on it. (Reckoning of the Silvermirror Witch: advances to phase 5) (end)

Eloria Mirvren: There's nothing quaint about it, trust me. It's supposedly where the mage Lazar was forced to drown his lover, and where he later drowned himself.

› Unite the amulet and the gem - I'm on it. (Reckoning of the Silvermirror Witch: advances to phase 5) (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Wait, what...? Show me that!

*You offer the runed amulet you discovered in a tomb for Eloria to study.*

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Yes... yes, this is it - the Amulet of Vesteris! But how...?

› Let's say I happened to stumble upon it, while on my way here. →

Eloria Mirvren: You're being serious? Perhaps fate drew you to it, if one believed such a thing existed... The amulet's still missing its central piece - the gem that's nested in the throne. Combine them, and your mind will be free!

› This amulet, I want to hear more about it first. →
› Sounds like it's worth a shot. (Reckoning of the Silvermirror Witch: advances to phase 5) (end)

Eloria Mirvren: No...! You cannot possibly believe that...! Would you really trust the word of the man who cursed you...? Think...!

› You haven't really given me a reason to trust you either. →
› Ah, well... you may be right. What about this old magic you mentioned? →
› I will betray you to Gabro! →

Eloria Mirvren: I've done nothing but defend myself! Helping you now is my last option left to survive - I'm exactly who you should be trusting!

› Ah, well... you may be right. What about this old magic you mentioned? →
› But can you really claim to be able to free me? →
› I will betray you to Gabro! →

Eloria Mirvren: No, no, you can't! Are you absolutely sure?

› Yes. →
› Ah, well... you may be right. What about this old magic you mentioned? →
› Then can you claim to be able to free me? →

Eloria Mirvren: *Okey, but this isn't developed yet so you can't.*

› Ah, well... you may be right. What about this old magic you mentioned? →
› Then can you claim to be able to free me? →

Eloria Mirvren: No...! You cannot possibly believe that...! Would you really trust the word of the man who cursed you...? Think...!

› You haven't really given me a reason to trust you either. →
› If not him, who else? Do you claim to have that power? →
› I will betray you to Gabro! →

Eloria Mirvren: What is it, Lord Aercrest?

› You don't really need to call me that, I'm not lord of anything these days. (end)
› What can you tell me about Grimoires? (end)
› What do you think Gabrius has become? (end)
› Leave. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: The master of the Black Grimoire...? He's done it, replicated the power of the ancient Grimoires, for the first time in what must be over a thousand years. Oh, Lord Aercrest, I don't know if he can be killed anymore...

› He has to be, he'll never stop coming for us unless we do. →
› You know I'm not the lord to much of anything these days, you don't really need to keep calling me that. →

Eloria Mirvren: I know that, somehow we'll have to find a way. But first, I need to say something, though it's hard... You killed Arren, and I feel I should hate you for it, but...

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: I also owe you my thanks. If not for you, I would never have made it this far. So thank you, Lord Aercrest. You've shown yourself to be a good ally, and someone I can truly rely on.

› sorry bout arren okey (end)
› Help me understand this Grimoire - what makes it so powerful? →
› Any idea what Gabrius has turned into? (end)
› We're in the same boat as I see it, so what now? →

Eloria Mirvren: Grimoires are no ordinary relics. I wonder, what do you know of the Ancient Civilization, the Qaesthari?

› Gabrius spoke of them some; a society of powerful magic wielders? →
› Continue (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Indeed, the Qaeshtari quite literally lived and breathed magic. They practiced a ritual that would transform their very bodies, to become ''ascended'' - they became closesly linked with magic, body and soul.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Thus to become a fully fledged member of the Qaeshtari society, one would have had to endure this transformation. The non-ascended became a lower caste. And for all ascended, it became an important tradition to craft their personal 'Grimoire'.

› But what was the Grimoire? →
› What of this Black Grimoire, how could Gabrius create such a thing? →

Eloria Mirvren: It was no mere spellbook, though it may have once started out as such. But it came to be an embodiment of magic. It was a personal statement of its creator, capable of altering the world in fundamental ways.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: For instance, a Grimoire I uncovered was capable of perfectly concealing its owner from those they did not wish to be found by. I can only imagine who its writer must have been, someone who valued their privacy a great deal. And it offered me sanctuary, once I became hunted by Gaberion.

› But its power was broken by another Grimoire - the one I acquired, of Truesight. →
› What of this Black Grimoire, how could Gabrius create such a thing? →

Eloria Mirvren: Indeed... some Grimoires always were inherently more powerful than others. Some were considered highly dangerous and were prohibited.

› What of this Black Grimoire, how could Gabrius create such a thing? →

Eloria Mirvren: We were younger then, talented and ambitious... scarred, also, by the Sorcerer's Uprising we'd experienced back in Vhosphoran Kingdom. We hungered to replace the losses of the war with wonders of magic.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: And what better way to do so than to grasp for powers only the Ancient Qaeshtari ever wielded? Could you imagine, a Grimoire that could birth life, create lush paradise where before there was nothing but desert? Ah, it was naive of course.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: But we were driven, and we scoured through numerous ruins in search of their secrets. In the end we learned so much, came so close, so many times... Only to discover that the man we considered our leader had warped our life's work to his own twisted purposes all along.

› Which is when you killed him? →
› So the Black Grimoire does what... prevents him from dying? (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Ironically, it seems that his death then was what ultimately completed his Black Grimoire.

› So the Black Grimoire does what... prevents him from dying? (end)

Eloria Mirvren: I truly wish I knew... But look - he's left behind his staff. Perhaps you'll be able to make some use of it.

› You're the mage here, don't you want it? →
› I've handled that staff before, it obeys none but Gabrius. →

Eloria Mirvren: Honestly, I detest the thing. I sense there's a mind of a person trapped within that orb, powering it. Gaberion's 'old friend', I suspect...

*Eloria shivers.*

› I've handled that staff before, it obeys none but Gabrius. →

Eloria Mirvren: I sense that, but the magic is nothing a former Mage of the Nine couldn't change for you.

*Eloria gently runs her hand along the staff, magic emanating from her fingers.*

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: It's yours now, Lord Aercrest. I shall remain here for the time being, should you need anything.

› Continue (Reunion of Fire and Death: completes the quest) (end)

Eloria Mirvren: *Eloria chuckles, tiredly.*

Maybe so, Lord Aercrest... maybe so...

› Gabrius will never stop coming for us unless we find a way to deal with him. →

Eloria Mirvren: You reek of foul magic, monster!

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Let me guess, you think you're here to hunt me down? Well you've got it wrong.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: You've come here to die. I only have one question before I burn you out of existence.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Why...? Why did you kill Arren? Why come here? I don't even know your pale face!

› I'm not here out of choice - I'm cursed, Lady Eloria. →
› Technically, that's more than one question. →
› I've come to cordially extend an invitation from my dark master, to join him in some dark, damp cave. →

Eloria Mirvren: Then I'm sorry for you, but I'll still kill you. Answer this first, though - cursed by whom?

› His name is Gabrius - an old acquintance of yours, I believe...? →

Eloria Mirvren: Who...? You mean to say...

*The woman's eyes widen, she appears to visibly shiver.*

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: I know of a man who would fit that name. It is not his real name, of course, not quite... but it should not be possible that he has found me!

› He used an artifact of the ancients - the Grimoire of Truesight? →
› Oh, he has, and he's looking to have a chat with you - you're to come with me. →

Eloria Mirvren: Then I should've known, there's no hiding from him forever... But he's made a mistake in sending a mere pawn, instead of having the courage to face me himself!

*Eloria begins to channel magic.*

› Wait...! (Reckoning of the Silvermirror Witch: advances to phase 3) (end)
› Continue (Reckoning of the Silvermirror Witch: advances to phase 3) (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Well then, he must be getting sloppy... for he's made a mistake in sending a mere pawn, instead of having the courage to face me himself! I will burn you to cinders!

› Continue (Reckoning of the Silvermirror Witch: advances to phase 3) (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Answer me, monster! I want an answer, before I turn you to ash!

› I'm not here out of choice - I'm cursed, Lady Eloria. →
› I've come to cordially extend an invitation from my dark master to join him in some dark, damp cave. →

Eloria Mirvren: Isn't that lovely? And who might your master be? Perhaps I shall pay him a visit after I've dealt with you.

› His name is Gabrius - an old acquintance of yours, I believe...? →

Eloria Mirvren: What, how...?

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: But I destroyed you...?!

› Perhaps you underestimated a 'mere pawn' of Gabrius? →
› Part of me wishes you had, but alas, I cannot be stopped. →
› Shocking, I know - let's get on with it. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: I'll just have to kill you again, however many times it takes!

› Continue (end)

Eloria Mirvren: We'll just have to see about that!

› Continue (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Wait... wait... wait!

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: You don't have to do this...!

› Continue →

Rothar: I'm afraid I do.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: You mean to say...

*Eloria's face turns white.*

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: You're undead... I sensed something was wrong with you, but I couldn't imagine... But first you should regain your freedom, we can talk more about this afterwards.

› You said the amulet went to the grave with this Lazar, where do I look for that? →
› Unite the amulet and the gem - I'm on it. (Reckoning of the Silvermirror Witch: advances to phase 5) (end)

Eloria Mirvren: I see... well you were smart to take note of that; with the amulet in your possession, all you need is its central piece - the gem that's nested in the throne. Combine them and your mind will be free!

› This amulet, I want to hear more about it first. →
› Sounds like it's worth a shot. (Reckoning of the Silvermirror Witch: advances to phase 5) (end)

Eloria Mirvren: ...what do you need?

› I have the amulet and gem in my possession... →
› Wondering why you're helping me. →
› The amulet - I wanted to hear more about it. →
› Leave. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Now is your moment! Combine them, set your mind free!

› Continue (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Let's be clear, I'm helping myself here first. Don't think I'll so easily forgive you for Arren, either; I would much rather have torched you to death, but then... as we found out, you proved surprisingly resistant to that strategy.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Let's not repeat that dance either, by the way. I think you may have dislodged my arm and broken a rib or two... Nothing to worry about, mind you - I have it mostly healed already.

› You know I had no choice when it came to Arren, right? →
› You know I had no choice when it came to Arren, right? →
› The amulet - I wanted to hear more about it. →
› As you say. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: I know... just... let's not talk about that right now.

› The amulet - I wanted to hear more about it. →
› Leave. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Long ago it was used by a mage named Lazar Vesteris to defeat Rhiona Elmm - the first Silvermirror Witch, who birthed this place.

› I'm still not sure where to look for it.[7] →
› Do you think the amulet really has the power to free me? →
› Never mind. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Went with Lazar to his grave, I believe. I'd asked Arren to look for a loremaster in Thornhill for further knowledge, before... well, before all this happened. But it's buried in this swamp, of that I am certain.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Based on legends, Lazar ended his journey at the pond, where he'd lost the love of his life - the Lover's Rest. I'd search for his amulet there.

*Pond of Lover's Rest has been marked to your minimap.*

› What was your interest in it? →
› Do you think the amulet really has the power to free me? →
› I see. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Purely archeological; uncovering magical artifacts of times past used to be a bit of a speciality of mine - both mine and Gaberion's, actually.

› Do you think the amulet really has the power to free me? →
› I see. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Lazar had fallen under the witch's possession and the amulet was ultimately what freed him, allowing him to defeat the Witch, or so the story goes.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: The magical gem central to the amulet was left here, lodged onto the witch's throne, so I believe there must be something to the stories.

› I'm still not sure where to look for it though.[8] →
› I see. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: But what you did to him, I can't unsee it... How could you?! I just can't... forget it, let's just not talk about that right now.

› The amulet - I wanted to hear more about it. →
› Leave. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: The amulet - did it work? Please tell me it works...

› Yes, I believe so - free at last! →
› Wait... do you mean to say you weren't sure that it would? →

Eloria Mirvren: Then it seems the old legends have bought us a moment's relief, Master... well, you have me at a disadvantage here, for I still don't know who you are.

› Lord Rothar Aercrest at your service, m'lady. →
› But did I not say? Lord Rothar Aercrest at your service, m'lady! →

Eloria Mirvren: Lord Rothar Aercrest...? But that can't possibly be, Lord Rothar has lain dead for centuries, unless...

› Indeed, my curse runs far deeper than mere enslavement - it is undeath. →

Eloria Mirvren: True undeath, it just shouldn't be possible! But I sense it now; you really are from beyond the grave, aren't you? I must say, this has me deeply troubled...

› Why, is it really so shocking to think Gabrius would resort to necromancy? →
› Never mind that, all that matters now is what happens next. →

Eloria Mirvren: There's more to it, I'm afraid. While it may be true that puppeteering the bodies of the unliving has always been a fixation for spellcasters with a certain... lack in dignity... such raised dead never have been anything more than empty, mindless husks.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: You see, the souls of the dead must always remain safe within the Dream - their final harbor and impenetrable sanctuary of rest. Believe me, throughout the history, many a fool has fantasized of breaching it, but none have ever succeeded - as it should be.

› Yet I am here, now - how is that possible? →
› Never mind that, all that matters now is what happens next. →

Eloria Mirvren: That's exactly the part that has me worried. I wonder... how much were you made aware of the past Gaberion and I shared? It is true that I betrayed him - tried to murder him. Do you know why?

› Err, due to 'fundamental philosophical disagreements'? →
› Best if you enlighten me. →
› I understand, I spent time with the man... that alone is enough reason. →

Eloria Mirvren: That's funny! Wait... is that what he actually told you? In truth, he was becoming increasingly obsessed with control over life and death, no doubt fuelled by traumas he'd suffered during the Sorcerers' Uprising back in Vhosphoran Kingdom...

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: I was too naive to see it at the time - his true interest in old Qaeshtari relics. Our research into them was meant to be about creating new forms of life, in the wake of death the war had inflicted. But in reality, he was more curious about the power to bring dead souls back to life.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: When it finally became clear to me, you can be quite sure we discovered 'fundamental philosophical disagreements'. In the fight that ensued, I thought I had killed him too... thought I'd made sure, but... somehow he returned.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Then he started hunting us - his old associates - picking us off one by one... Now that you're here, it can only mean that he's progressed his nefarious work on necromancy after we parted ways. And that is what has me troubled.

› So, what do you propose we do next? →
› There can only be one way to make this right - Gabrius must die. →
› Perhaps we should try to take this opportunity to disappear? →

Eloria Mirvren: Putting your trust in me, Lord Aercrest - asking for my opinion? For one thing, I'm glad you aren't trying to run away instead, now that your mind is freed. It's not like there'd be anywhere to run to anyway...

› Which leaves us where...? →
› I'm still cursed - I need a way to return to where I belong, within the Dream. →

Eloria Mirvren: Well... it's become clear hiding from Gaberion is no longer an option. The way he tracked me here, he will always be able to find us no matter where we go. I believe it's time to turn around and face him, to fight him no matter the outcome.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Besides, you're still cursed with undeath. It is his magic that brought you here - he must also hold the keys to returning you to where you belong. And if not...? At the very least, you stand to gain revenge.

› To face him, what are our chances? →
› Honestly, he didn't seem much like a fighter - I only ever did the heavy lifting. →

Eloria Mirvren: I'm not sure, all I know is that he is not to be underestimated. He used to be revered as the most powerful mage in all of Vhosphoran Kingdom, and this was already long before what he is today. Not to mention...

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: He already cheated death once before, even after I made sure he no longer drew breath, nor did his heart beat. I say, this time we ought to fashion a weapon - the kind which leaves no room for avoiding the death it delivers.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: When I felled the Silvermirror Witch who presided here, I took from her a cursed dagger; it saps all strength from its victims, both physical and in spirit. If we were to further imbue it with venom from the most lethal and monstrous plant in the witch's garden...

› You don't think the blade alone will suffice? →
› A lot of strange plants around... which one's the most lethal and monstrous? →
› Say no more - I shall wrestle the deadly plant for its venom! →

Eloria Mirvren: I'm not sure how he does it, but Gaberion has already proven his talents for avoiding death. All I know is that killing him won't be like killing any other man, so I'd say the venom is necessary.

› A lot of strange plants around... which one's the most lethal and monstrous? →
› Then I shall wrestle the deadly plant for its venom. →

Eloria Mirvren: It's an overgrown Foulvenom Lasher on the far side of the witch's garden, to the east. Its roots extend well underground and I've observed them rising up swiftly to lash at any being, who dares to tread on the ground above.

› So, how dangerous is it? →
› This venom - do we really need it, won't the blade alone be enough? →
› Then I shall wrestle the deadly plant for its venom. →

Eloria Mirvren: Oh, very; its roots are barbed and coated with the plant's toxins, normally inflicting a death sentence to any who falls victim to their sting. In fact, it almost took me, even as I thought I was observing it from a safe distance.

› This venom - do we really need it, won't the blade alone be enough? →
› Then I shall wrestle the deadly plant for its venom. →

Eloria Mirvren: Yes, I was hoping you'd say that, considering the risk of death is not quite so final to you as it is to me. I will be waiting for your return here. I'm glad to have you as my ally, Master Aercrest, and good luck!

› Continue (Reckoning of the Silvermirror Witch: completes the quest; In Need of a Weapon Most Foul: starts the quest; hand over Amulet of Vesteris; gain the Amulet of Vesteris trait) (end)

Eloria Mirvren: He may prefer to avoid getting his hands dirty, true... but believe me, he's not to be underestimated. He was revered as the most powerful mage in all of Vhosphoran Kingdom, and this was already long before what he is today. Not to mention...

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: I... truly hope there's a way for that. In any case, it must require a confrontation with Gaberion. After all, it is his magic that brought you here and he alone understands it. As for myself...

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Even if I was to continue running, it's become clear there's no more hiding from him. I must turn around and face him, to fight him no matter the outcome. So, Lord Rothar, it seems our paths are intertwined.

› To face him, what are our chances? →
› Honestly, he didn't seem much like a fighter - I only ever did the heavy lifting. →

Eloria Mirvren: I see, I'm not surprised you'd be itching for revenge. As for myself, this is merely a question of survival, but I would tend to agree; truly, I arrived at that conclusion long before already. Only, Gaberion does not seem to be an easy man to kill.

› What makes you say that? →
› Honestly, he didn't seem much like a fighter - I only ever did the heavy lifting. →

Eloria Mirvren: Hm... I don't think there's hiding from Gaberion any longer. How he found me here, he will always be able to find us, no matter where we'd go. No, I believe it's time to turn around and face him, fight him, no matter the outcome.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Very well. Gaberion was growing increasingly obsessed with control over life and death, no doubt fuelled by the traumas he'd suffered during the Sorcerers' Uprising back in Vhosphoran Kingdom...

Eloria Mirvren: When I finally found out - when it became undeniable and he wouldn't even care to pretend otherwise - I became furious. In the fight that ensued, I thought I had killed him too... thought I'd made sure, but... somehow he returned.

Eloria Mirvren: Hah, I'm pleased you still retain some sense of humor! But no. the real reason has more to do with how he grew obsessed with control over life and death, no doubt fuelled by the traumas he'd suffered during the Sorcerers' Uprising back in Vhosphoran Kingdom...

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: You may be right, although we must take extreme care moving onwards - Gaberion may have grown even more powerful than I remember. What are you thinking, Lord Rothar - how do you see our situation?

› You're the expert, I'm interested in hearing what you'd propose. →
› There can only be one way forward - Gabrius must die. →
› Shouldn't we try to take this opportunity to disappear? →

Eloria Mirvren: Truly...? I do remember now, you said as much through Arren's mirror... but it can't possibly be! Lord Rothar Aercrest has lain dead for centuries, unless...

› Indeed, my curse runs far deeper than mere enslavement - it is undeath. →

Eloria Mirvren: Let me remind you, that amulet is a centuries old legend; I might have doubted whether it even existed, let alone functioned, if not for discovering its gem, lodged on the throne here.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Now it seems the old legends have bought us a moment's relief, Master... well, you have me at a disadvantage here, for I still don't know who you are.

› Lord Rothar Aercrest at your service, m'lady! →
› But did I not say? Lord Rothar Aercrest at your service, m'lady! →

Eloria Mirvren: This place - this ''Garden'' - it makes me nauseous. No wonder it's been known to attract the worst kind of spellcasters over the ages...

› The foul venom - I have it.[9] →
› Tell me again about the venom you requested.[10] →
› I need to know you're not having doubts about working with me. →
› Never mind. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Then we have what we need. Thank you, Lord Aercrest...

› Continue (end)

Eloria Mirvren: I want to use it to imbue a cursed dagger I took from the previous Silvermirror Witch. Joined with venom from the most lethal and monstrous plant in the witch's garden, the dagger ought to deliver certain death even to one such as Gaberion.

› A lot of strange plants around... which one's the most lethal and monstrous? →
› This venom - do we really need it, won't the blade alone be enough? →
› On another note... →
› As you say. (end)

› On another note... →
› As you say. (end)

› On another note... →
› As you say. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: I'm not sure how he does it, but Gaberion has already proven his talents for avoiding death. All I know is that killing him won't be like killing any other man, so I'd say the venom is necessary.

› A lot of strange plants around... which one's the most lethal and monstrous? →
› On another note... →
› As you say. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: Yes...?

› I need to know you're not having doubts about working with me. →
› Never mind. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: It's true, I feel conflicted... but I'm not one to second-guess myself. Just don't think I'll so easily forgive you for Arren; I would much rather have torched you to death, but then... as we found out, you proved surprisingly resistant to that strategy.

› Tell me again about the venom you requested.[11] →
› The foul venom - I have it.[12] →
› As you say. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: I know... just... let's not talk about that right now.

› Tell me again about the venom you requested.[13] →
› The foul venom - I have it.[14] →
› Leave. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: But what you did to him, I can't unsee it... How could you?! I just can't... forget it, let's just not talk about that right now.

› Tell me again about the venom you requested.[15] →
› The foul venom - I have it.[16] →
› Leave. (end)

Eloria Mirvren: The master of the Black Grimoire...? He's done it then, replicated the power of the ancient Grimoires, for the first time in over a thousand years. Oh, Lord Rothar, I don't know if he can be killed...

› He may never stop coming for us unless we do. →

Eloria Mirvren: I know that... Somehow, at some stage, we must find a way. But first, this fight took a lot from us... Taking a moment to catch our breath might be in order, don't you think?

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Lord Aercrest...? Though it's hard, there's something I must say... You killed Arren, and I should hate you for it... but I don't think I have it in me.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: If not for you, I would never have made it this far. Instead, I owe you my thanks - you've shown yourself to be a great ally, whom I can truly depend on - so thank you.

› I'm sorry about Arren. (end)
› What can you tell me about Grimoires? (end)
› What do you think Gabrius has become? (end)
› So... what happens now? →

Eloria Mirvren: I truly wish I knew... but look - Gaberion left behind his staff! Perhaps you'll be able to make some use of it?

› You're the mage here, don't you want it? →
› I've handled that staff before, it obeys none but Gabrius. →

Eloria Mirvren: Honestly, I detest the thing. I sense there's a mind of a person trapped within that orb, powering it. This must be Gaberion's 'old friend'...

*Eloria shivers.*

› I've handled that staff before, it obeys none but Gabrius. →

Eloria Mirvren: I sense that, but his magic is nothing a former Mage of the Nine couldn't change for you.

*Eloria gently runs her hand along the staff, magic emanating from her fingers.*

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: It's yours now, Lord Aercrest. Who knows, the staff might prove useful while you're exploring out there. In the meantime, I shall remain here, meditating on all that's happened.

› Farewell, Lady Eloria. (Reunion of Fire and Death: completes the quest) (end)

Eloria Mirvren: *Panting heavily, Eloria collapses on her knees.*

› Are you alright? →
› Is it over...? →

Eloria Mirvren: I'll be fine, but thank you, Lord Aercrest. Would you check his remains - whatever's left of him - and see if you can find... I don't know... anything noteworthy?

› What are you expecting to find? →
› Do you think we actually killed him? →
› Very well, I'll take a look. →

Eloria Mirvren: I'm thinking he made a Grimoire to control the dead. I'd like to see it... see if it's really true.

› Are you sure you didn't just destroy it? →
› Do you think we actually killed him? →
› Very well, I'll take a look. →

Eloria Mirvren: It was fashioned after Qaeshtari Grimoires, which can't easily be destroyed by conventional means either, so... I'm asking you to take a look.

› Do you think we actually killed him? →
› Very well, take a look I shall. →

Eloria Mirvren: Do you think we actually didn't? I don't know, Lord Aercrest... I think he can't easily revive himself, if his body is ash. But you should take a look anyway.

› What are you expecting to find? →
› Very well, take a look I shall. →

Eloria Mirvren: Thank you... Lord Aercrest.

Reunion of Fire and Death: advances to phase 5
› Continue (Reunion of Fire and Death: advances to phase 5) (end)

Eloria Mirvren: I think so, I pray it is, but... we should make sure. Would you check his remains - whatever's left of him - and see if you can find... I don't know... anything noteworthy?

› What are you expecting to find? →
› Do you think we actually killed him? →
› Very well, I'll take a look. →

Eloria Mirvren: Ah, there you are, I've been waiting for awhile. Do you feel it? This place is giving me the creeps, it's too... quiet. Did Gaberion tell you anything about this cave, or what to expect once we enter?

› He may have mentioned something about a sacred place of the ancient druids... →

Eloria Mirvren: The druids, what could he possibly plan to do with their magic? I don't like this... I can't picture it, which only makes me me more anxious...

› Do you think he's expecting us? →
› Druidic magic often revolves around healing, does it not? →
› No point standing and debating, let's go. →

Eloria Mirvren: Oh, he'll most certainly be expecting us. You were to bring me here, after all, were you not? Whether he's as of yet aware we're working together, I couldn't say. But it would be safe to assume the worst, don't you think?

› Druidic magic often revolves around healing, does it not? →
› No point standing and debating, let's go. →

Eloria Mirvren: It does - rejuvenation, restoration, preservation... these aren't things Gaberion has normally concerned himself with. Considering the kind of man he's become, I can only assume he means to distort that power in some nefarious way.

› Do you think he's expecting us? →
› No point standing and debating, let's go. →

Eloria Mirvren: Yes, let's - but first - I think you should take the dagger. If Gaberion does expect trouble, he may be more likely to expect it from me, or so I'd be inclined to think. In any case, better if you have it.

› Continue →

Eloria Mirvren: Just make sure, when the opportunity presents itself, you plant that blade as deep into him as it possibly goes!

› Very well, noted. (end)
