Dialogue
(760) Traberius Varrange: Be welcome at our enclave here. We are the Magi of Hydrobor. Our Academy is a little removed from the city, but the mayor has kindly dedicated this district to our use. In exchange, we do what we can to serve the people of this city. You will find some among us to sell objects of magical power, and the knowledge within the books of this tower is freely given.

What's your role here? → (762)
I'm gathering allies for an assault on the bandit fortress. → (770)

Thanks. → (0)
(761) Traberius Varrange: For half a century we've resided here in the northern woodlands of Imberthale, in exile of sorts. Originally we hail from the desert oases of the Vhosphoran Kingdom, where we were sometimes also known as the Water Seers. The War of the Mage King changed all that though, we were forced to leave…

Interesting, but I had something else to ask… → (764)
(762) Traberius Varrange: I suppose you might consider me the leader of this enclave. I am the Emissary, who manages contact between this place and our Academy. I maintain relations with this good city, which has kindly welcomed us since our migration. Perhaps not purely out of the kindness of their hearts, considering the services provided by our Weatherwitch, but still…

(770) Traberius Varrange: Ah, the outlaws are finally to be reined in then? I would love nothing more than to freely offer my aid, but this time I'm sadly unable to do so without asking for a small favor first. You see, we're running low on certain objects that charge our spells. Are you familiar with orbs that glow with magic? If you were to bring me 10, my mind would rest easy sparing some among our ranks to join your cause.
I have 10 glowing orbs for you. → (771)
Any advice on where to look for your orbs? → (772)
Nevermind, there's something else I'd like to ask… → (764)
(773) Traberius Varrange: I myself am getting a little too old for the excitement of battle, but our young Weatherwitch Brianna could really use some real world experience. I shall take up her duties here and send her along with a few companions. You may let your commander know that the Hydrobor Magi will join the defence of this city.

(765) Traberius Varrange: A tragic tale with too many twists and turns to recount, for sure… But in short, an ambitious sorcerer by the name of Desrin Arthraime had proclaimed himself The Mage King and rightful ruler of the Vhosphoran Kingdom. Thus he challenged the Queen at the time, Valinda Vhos, whose forces were spearheaded by the Queen's elite companions of magi, the Vhosphoran Circle of Nine.

(768) Traberius Varrange: Once we found ourselves no longer welcome in our homelands, we put much distance between it. Journeying in these northern lands, we came upon an ancient forestland altered by magic, presumably created by the Ancient Civilization. It was there we settled our Academy, in the midst of the Oldroots Forest as the locals name it, far west from this city.

(769) Traberius Varrange: In our homeland, the Vhosphoran Oases are the lifeblood of the kingdom. Much of what we did was in managing them, to seek ways to expand them, or to even create them. So too in these lands we have put to use our abilities in manipulating nature, to bring warmth upon the local crops, though our actions have also earned us the ire of local druidic populations, who consider alterations to nature sacrilege.

(764) Traberius Varrange: Make your questions, I am here to provide knowledge.

(763) Traberius Varrange: Yes, quite. In her role, I like to think, young Brianna brings something of the skies of the Vhosphoran deserts along with us. It is hard for a man to grow his upkeep under the harsh, damp, northern winds that blow across Imberthale. Our Weatherwitch performs her duties at the top of this tower, where she does what she can to ease the burden on these locals.

(771) Traberius Varrange: Thank you, these will do nicely. As for the aid I may offer, I myself am getting a little too old for the excitement of battle. But I feel our young Weatherwitch, Brianna, could really use some real world experience. I shall take up her duties here and send her along with a few companions. (772) Traberius Varrange: Oh, they're not terribly rare, despite what some believe. Spellcasters are known to carry them, as well as monsters with magical ties, such as ghosts and undead. Alternatively, one might be able to craft them at a Mystic's Workbench.

(766) Traberius Varrange: The Hydrobor Magi chose to ally with the Queen, of course - Arthraime's vision for the future of the country had no place for us. I was but a young, aspiring mage at the time, but I remember vividly the day the Vhosphoran Nine arrived at our academy; Gaberion Theraliss in his full regalia - their leader at the time, though he later became… broken - meeting with our legendary Archmage Eveniss Charandale…

(767) Traberius Varrange: *You notice the eyes of the old mage glisten as he stares into his distant memories.*Together we fought and defeated the False King Desrin Arthraime, though it came at a heavy cost. In the eyes of the common people, the war had been orchestrated generally by wielders of magic - 'The Sorcerer's War', they said - and soon we were no longer welcome in our own lands. The war had ended, but many sad events followed - the suffering it caused continued for long to come, perhaps even to this day.
